The National Media Council, the government body responsible for approving the release of films in the UAE, has denied the censoring of the latest controversial award-winning movie ‘The Wolf of Wall Street' which opened this week. Latest reports also claim it was the film’s UAE distributors who made the changes themselves before submitting it for approval.

Universal Studios’ 47 Ronin brings to life one of Japan’s most beloved historical tales in a beautiful format that mixes ancient legend with modern movie fantasy. It depicts a fictionalized version of the real-life story of 47 leaderless samurai, who avenged the untimely and unjust death of their leader.
 
Directed by Carl Erik Rinsch, 47 Ronin stars Keanu Reeves as Kai, an orphan child believed to have been raised by demons. He was taken in and raised by Lord Asano (played by Japanese actor Min Tanaka), the samurai group’s fallen leader and ruler of the Ako territory in Japan.

Emaar Retail, which manages Reel Cinemas reported that the flagship 22-screen cinema in The Dubai Mall attracted over 2.6 million customers in 2013, up 25 percent on last year. Additionally, 325,000 people paid to watch movies at its boutique six-screen cinema at Dubai Marina Mall
 
The company said that both cinemas have posted a total of nine million movie-goers to date, four years after opening. The company also revealed that at present, Reel Cinemas gets 22 percent of the total UAE theatrical sales market.
